Quote by Charles Baudelaire

"We are weighed down, every moment, by the conception and the sensation of Time. And there are but two means of escaping and forgetting this nightmare: pleasure and work. Pleasure consumes us. Work strengthens us. Let us choose." ~Charles Baudelaire

Is your choice a choice, or has your choice been preordained? Thus your choice is no longer a choice but..?

I have no choice. So is that my choice? That I have no choice? Making your choice, being no choice.

I choose work, to escape the nightmare that Time can be. I choose work because there is no pleasure. So have I chosen? Or was it chosen for me? Or did I have no choice at all? Or did I choose to not have a choice, therefore, I chose?

Have I sparked a thought? Or have I just spewed nonsense? Your choice, or so I would have you think.

Cue wink.

sage advise that presupposes life - so vegetation is a choice to opt out? or is it pleasure?

there is no choice about work since there always seems to be plenty to do.
don't feel like doing the dishes, though - they'll be there tomorrow ...
balance is good.

btw nice of you to acknowledge people's participation here,
but what do YOU think about these views?

"Pleasure consumes us. Work Strengthens us."

Strength, doesn't that give you pleasure..? N Where do you get the strength to work, isn't that from pleasure ?...

Time wieghs us down, how true. But,
is it so easy to break the cycle, a simple choice ??

M, what say you ?
