  • Conservatives are for a mix of public and private healthcare. I think this would be a mistake.
  • I'm also not a big fan of large boosts to the military. The Tories do appear to be.
  • The Tories are advocating the National Missile Defense. I've studied it a few years back, and the technology is highly unproven, for one. I think it would be an enormous waste of money, time and resources.
  • Conservatives want to put 5.3 BILLION into protecting Arctic Sovereignty...is this really necessary? Seems a little imperialist to me.
  • Mr Harper (Conservative) wants to put same-sex marriage back in front of the House of Commons so that the MP's can vote on it. I say let the decision stand and let's move on. If two people love each other enough to want both government and society to recognize their union, then what's the big deal?? Who cares if both involved parties happen to belong to the same sex? It seems like a step backwards to me. Our leaders SHOULD be encouraging cohesion in all its forms, NOT DIVISION.
  • The Liberals want to "lead the way in implemeting Kyoto on a national and international level Kyoto". The Conservative platform does not even mention Kyoto.
  • Tories would like to reduce the GST from 7% to 5% by 2008. Big deal. The Liberals would like to implement a "working income tax benefit to supplement earnings of low-income workers" (and that would be me)
  • The Conservative platform wants to prevent the decriminalization of marijuana. Hmm. Maybe Mr. Harper needs to chill out and smoke a joint.
  • Harper wants to scrap the Gun Registry. While even Martin agrees that it has been pretty useless so far, why scrap it? Why not just improve the program? For example, Martin wants to implement an outright ban on handguns in cities. Harper seems to focus on enforcing stiffer penalties. Let's face it...this hasn't worked so far as a deterrent. Let's work closer to the root of the problem and get rid of the guns.

I think that many voters will be discouraged by voting Liberal on Monday due to the recent Sponsorship Scandal. But...don't forget the Airbus Scandal in the days when Mulroney's Conservatives were in power. Both parties are corrupt...I suppose the choice is between the lesser of two evils.

SO....ON MONDAY, JANUARY 23RD....VOTE LIBERAL
