Chenrezig Sadhana: Favourite Parts

This post is taken from my current Chenrezig Sadhana (spiritual practice). I am attempting to memorize the entire 30-40 minute practice. Most of my memorization practice occurs while I am at work. It really helps the time pass. My favourite parts (the ones that touch my heart or stick in my mind) are highlighted, and a few defintions will be included at the end.

Refuge

Until I reach enlightenment, I take refuge in all the buddhas,
and in the dharma, and in all the noble sangha.
By the merit of accomplishing the 6 perfections*,
May I acheive buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings.

Seven Branch Prayer
( A prayer in the mahayana system comprised of prostration, offering, confession, rejoicing, requesting the teachers to teach, requesting them not to pass into nirvana and dedication of merit.)

With joyous faith I prostrate
To the Noble All-Seeing One
And to all the buddhas and bodhisattvas
Of the ten directions and three times.

I make offerings both actual and imagined
Of flowers, incense, lights, perfume,
Food, music and much else.
All you assembled noble ones, please accept them.

From beginningless time until now,

I confess all the 10 Unvirtuous Acts*
And the 5 Actions of Unlimited Consequence*
I have committed while lost in obscuring passion.

I rejoice in the merit of whatever virtue
Shravakas, pratyekabuddhas, bodhisattvas,
And ordinary people have gathered
Throughout the three times.

I pray you turn the wheel of the dharma
In the form of the greater and lesser vehicles
For as many different aptitudes as are present
In the motivations of all sentient beings.

I beseech you not to pass into nirvana
But, until samsara is completely empty
To look with great compassion on all sentient beings
Who are lost in an ocean of frustration and sorrow.

May whatever merit I have accumulated
Become a cause of enlightenment if beings.
May I become, without delay,
Foremost among protectors of beings.
